Lesson Breakdown
Lesson 1: Intro to Color Sequences
- Introduce common patterns: AB, ABC, AAB, etc.
- Use Pix Brix to demonstrate color sequences physically.
- Students fill in missing colors on worksheets.
Lesson 2: Build the Pattern
- Physically replicate worksheet patterns with Pix Brix.
- Discuss and label sequence logic (what comes next and why).
Lesson 3: Predict & Prove
- Students use logic to predict upcoming colors in a row.
- Build and test their prediction with real bricks.
Lesson 4: Create Your Own Pattern
- Students design their own repeating or growing pattern with Pix Brix.
- Swap with a partner to solve each other’s sequences.
- Draw or color their new patterns for submission.
Assessment
- Completion of worksheets with accurate predictions.
- Successful replication of patterns using Pix Brix.
- Student explanation of pattern logic and reasoning.
- Optional: Student-created color patterns and peer solving activity.
ESA Alignment
This curriculum supports early math and logic instruction using Pix Brix as a supplemental educational tool. Color sequences and pattern-building activities are tied directly to curriculum-based learning in a tactile and visual format, qualifying under ESA standards for materials with valid educational purpose.
Submission Instructions
- Include this curriculum document when submitting your ESA purchase for reimbursement.
- Attach receipts for Pix Brix materials.
- Upload student work samples or photos of physical builds (optional).
- Submit under “Supplemental Materials” in ClassWallet.
